How I work

LMP is custom-design focused, and does not provide online ordering.  I interact directly with my clients, and, consequently, am able to take on a limited number of projects.  The process is time consuming, not only to design, but to produce, so please allow ample time for your stationery.  Here are the general steps:

I. Call or email me and we'll chat a bit about what you need (pieces, quantity, special artwork), and discuss design ideas.  Feel free to send your Pinterest boards or other visual inspiration that you've gathered- I like to get a sense of who you are, what your style is, and what your overall vision for your event is.  (I also love to look at pretty things.)

II. Upon receipt of a signed proposal, contract and deposit from you, I'll put together layouts and send you digital proofs.  Hard copy proofs are not typically available.

III. Review your proofs and either submit your corrections or your approval. Once approved and the balance is paid, it prints!

Frequently asked questions

Can I tweak an existing LMP design?

But of course.  Custom design fees will apply, depending on the extent of alterations.

How else can I customize my stationery?

Hand-drawn monograms, hand-lettering, die-cut shapes, envelope liners, belly bands, edge painting- you name it.  And if you want a custom postage stamp designed to match your suite, it's on the house.

Do you only use letterpress printing?

In addition to letterpress printing, LMP employs digital printing, engraving and foil stamping.  If you want a true gold or silver for a bit of glitz, I highly recommend foil stamping.

How many proofs will I receive?

When you order a house suite, you will receive four proofs on the house.  Each revision after that is $75 per proof.

For custom design orders, you will receive up to three design variations based the concept that originates during our design consultation.  Additional concepts will be billed at $75/hour and can take up to two to four hours.  Once a design is decided upon, it will be followed by up to four revisions.  After four revisions, each round is $75.

What type of paper do you use?

100% cotton, tree-free paper is our medium of choice for letterpress printing, and is available in one or two-ply thicknesses and two shades of white.  It receives the impression beautifully and is a sound ecological choice.  I use other papers as well, depending on the project and particular printed piece; the paper palette is a large one!

What is the turnaround time?

Standard mailing time is eight weeks ahead of your wedding date, and you should give your guests four weeks to respond.  Start the process about four months before your wedding; this allows 4-6 weeks to produce the invitations, plus 2-3 weeks for calligraphy. Custom orders may require a little more time; it’s wise to start that process 5-6 months in advance of your wedding date.  Sometimes time slips through your fingers, so if you are running behind this schedule, it’s worth asking if there’s enough time to get your invitations produced.  Miracles have happened here!

For other stationery and design projects, please contact LMP to discuss turnaround time.

Does LMP take on branding projects?

Absolutely!  I've worked with small businesses and individuals across a variety of fields on developing their branding, and have enjoyed every minute of it.  Whether you need a new logo or a brand new identity, I'd love to discuss ways to make you or your company shine.
